So what is it that we do? Simply put, we design experiences. U & I specializes in designing and producing the look and feel of an event through decor and other visual (as well as non-visual) elements. Some refer to the type of work we do as event styling. As designers, we think about the big picture of what you want to accomplish through your event and dream up ideas and concepts to help convey your message and leave a lasting impression on your guests.

Full Service Design

We give guidance and lend support throughout the entire design process all the way through execution, acting as your design ally and advocate every step of the way. With this type of service, we’re ready to come on board as soon as you’ve made the decision to host an event. Here are some examples of what to expect from this type of service (note: this is not an exhaustive list as every event has its own unique requirements):

  • Helping you come up with a theme / vision to design your event around
  • Defining all the artifacts required to bring the design vision to life such as décor elements (example: centerpieces, flowers, tableware, fabrics, lighting, custom fabrications / DIY projects), food, music, entertainment, event-day attire, personal touches, cultural elements etc.
  • Helping to set a budget
  • Helping to select an appropriate venue
  • Recommending / selecting the right team of vendors for your event (while we do a lot of design and décor work in-house, we also believe that when necessary, it’s important to have the appropriate team of people working with us to bring your dream event to life!)
  • Helping you source your invitation suite (readymade or custom designed depending on your budget and event’s design requirements) and all other required stationery (menu cards, place cards, escort cards, thank-you cards etc.) and signage
  • Executing event day installations and set-up
  • Assisting with event day coordination
  • Helping you develop photography and / or videography shot lists
  • Coordinating and styling day-of-event photoshoots
  • Taking care of post-event tear-down and clean-up

We can’t begin to tell you how many times we get inquiries from prospective clients and the first question we’re asked is “how much?” We understand that they’re probably just anxious to know if this is a service they can afford but it’s also difficult to give an answer within such a short conversation. It’s like calling a home improvement contractor and expecting to receive a quote before they come to your house to assess the scope of work that needs to be done. But it’s also true that as consumers, what we generally perceive to be affordable ties in a great deal with the value we attach to that thing. For example, if you are a self-proclaimed shoe lover, chances are you’ll make more room in your budget to splurge on shoes than a “non-fashionista”.
